Nestled in the historic Cordage Commerce Center, Terra is a Rustic Italian restaurant showcasing wood-fired cooking infused with New England flair. 

Both casual and inviting, Terra honors and features local farmers and artisans in every dish. We believe that flavors and quality begin with sourcing the very best ingredients the land currently provides, hence our name, Terra, meaning land in Italian.

Our menu changes daily and will only feature ingredients that are in season, responsibly sourced, and sustainable. Be it fish, fowl, grass-fed and aged beef, produce or artisanal concoctions, Chef/Owner Taylor Naples lets the land dictate his menu, which results in a comprehensive dining experience that perfectly complements our wine and beverage list.

ABOUT THE FOUNDERS

TAYLOR NAPLES
Owner, Executive Chef

Born and raised in Connecticut, Taylor Naples began carving his path to Terra at a young age, learning from his Italian-American grandparents to cook and butcher like they would in the “old country.” His grandfather was the proud owner of Berkley Market, a well-respected butcher shop, and it was there that Taylor's passion for food was born.

After graduating from high school, Taylor went on to study at Johnson & Wales University, where he graduated with a B.A. in Food Service Management and A.S. in Culinary Arts. Shortly after graduating, Taylor relocated to New York City, where he had the opportunity to work for some of the best chefs in the top kitchens at that time.

After a few years as a cook in various New York City kitchens, Taylor's management career began as a member of the opening culinary team at the Standard Grill, the anchor restaurant at the Standard Hotel in the Meatpacking District. Under Chef Dan Silverman, Taylor was encouraged to implement methods of minimalism into the dishes he executed, soon becoming the restaurant's senior sous chef.

Taylor went on to work at Il Buco Alimentari under Chef Justin Smilie, where he was introduced to wood-fired cooking. While there, he developed a love for bold, bright, clean flavors, complimented by charring. This love is something he carries with him to this day, and these flavors have a strong presence on every menu he creates.

Next, Taylor was selected by Chef Tom Colicchio to be the Chef de Cuisine at his flagship restaurant, Craft New York. In this position, Taylor developed a deep appreciation for local and sustainable products, focusing on creating dishes that were seasonally driven. Taylor also became involved in advocating for sustainable fishing, and feels strongly about protecting our oceans. Taylor never serves anything from the ocean that is farm-raised or over-fished.

At his last stop in New York City before relocating to Plymouth, Taylor was the opening Chef de Cuisine at High Street on Hudson, which received the honor of being named one of Food and Wine's 2016 Top 10 New Restaurants in the country. Working alongside Chef Eli Kulp and Chef Jon Nodler, Taylor began experimenting with fermentation, learning to showcase familiar flavors in a different format, with a highlight on different grains.

Coming full circle, Taylor is proud to be the Chef/Owner of Terra; a rustic, Italian-inspired, wood-fire driven, seasonal restaurant that feels like home. Terra's menu philosophy is centered around hand-made pastas, whole animal production, and the best ingredients New England has to offer. Taylor is proud to support local farmers and fishermen and believes that quality ingredients should be simply prepared and cooked perfectly, allowing the natural flavors of every ingredient to speak for themselves.

CARLY JANNETTY NAPLES
Co-Owner, Director of Operations

Carly Jannetty Naples is a practicing civil litigation attorney based out of Manhattan. She holds a B.A. in English from Western New England University in Springfield, MA, J.D. from Pace Law School in White Plains, NY, and M.A. in American Studies from Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT. She is responsible for overseeing Terra's daily operations and managing the restaurant's media accounts.
